Popular Activities in Maldives

by nattu

With Maldives as the chosen/prospected destination for your next vacation, you certainly won’t lack the sun and the great memories. The Maldives are a great place to be throughout most of the year, so no matter what the season you will likely find the same turquoise waters and silver sands. But what else but lying in the sun could one do when faced with such brilliant beaches and the ever warm and crystalline waters of the Indian Ocean? Well, the truth is that there are many things to do in the Maldives except getting tan. And in lack of some very creative ideas, you might as well check out these popular activities in Maldives:

Diving is the most popular sport in Maldives. The islands benefit from numerous diving schools and a fabulous system of coral reefs. Miniature marine animals and plants are characteristic for the underwater ecosystems of the Maldives. With an intensive training from the island’s expert divers you’ll be able to explore the amazing reefs around the atolls in no time – Manta Point, Banana Reef or the Bluetribe Moofushi are all fabulous diving locations.

Cruises and boat trips

Cruising is a popular method of finding your way around the Maldives. There are several cruise line operators offering tours of the archipelago. If you prefer something more authentic, you can just rent a boat or hire a local guide to take you to the less known atolls or beaches.

Sightseeing and excursions

Despite their popularity as a beach vacation destination, the Maldives don’t lack the classical attractions like Museums and nature reserves. Whenever you want to take a break from sunbathing you can make a short excursion and visit places like the National Museum in Male, Old Friday Mosque or embark the amazing Whale Submarine.

We so far talked a bit about diving, but there are numerous other watersports that can be practiced in Maldives. The nest of the list would probably be snorkelling, with kayaking and kite surfing close behind. This might act as a surprise but the Maldives are also a popular destination with surfers, especially in summer time (June-August).

Relaxation and Wellness

Like any exotic location where luxury hotels flourish, the Maldives don’t lack more sophisticated means of relaxation like spas and wellness centers. Extensive spa centers can be found in most of the big resorts in Maldives, and are often provided with latest fashion techniques and facilities.
