As one of South Africa’s most popular destinations, the seaside city of Durban is also great for party-lovers. Half-city, half-resort, Durban is always filled with tourists, in search for a fun way to spend their time. And this is where Durban won’t disappoint its guests. The city a has thriving nightlife, with a generous offer of bars, night clubs and restaurants. Dining out in Durban

You can make your Durban dinner as fancy or simple as you want it. Italian, Asian, South African or Portuguese food all all easy to find in Durban, although the really expensive restaurants will usually serve a selection of international dishes and/or fusion food. There are some really nice gourmet restaurants in Durban, such as Harvey’s or Ile Maurice, as well as some good bistros, such as Cafe 1999, Aubergine Bistro or Craft Trattoria. For something quick, filling, and not utterly expensive, you can try many of the city’s Asian food restaurants or steak houses.

Best places to have a drink

Having a beer with your party mates before hitting the dance floor is part of the nightlife ritual. Durban downtown, Florida Road and the beachfront are the usual locations for going out. You’ll find all kinds of bars in Durban, from the ubiquitous Irish pub (Waxy O’Connors) to members-only clubs  (Durban Underwear Bar) and fancy hotel lounges. You should know that some of the most popular Durban bars are actually hotel bars, so if you’re lucky enough to be the guests of one of these hotels, you won’t even have to adventure further than your hotel’s ground floor. Examples include the Oyster Bar, the bar at eMakhosini Hotel, or the Exchange Bar. Zack’s, the Keg & Trout, and Studio 54 are also worth a visit.

Popular Durban Nightclubs

Finally, time to dance! Durban nightclubs are some of the liveliest and most eventful in the country. They also stay open till the break of dawn, so 24h party people should feel like home here. Most Durban clubs have a very tolerant and open policy when it comes to their playlists, which means that they will host DJ parties but also retro music dance parties. Some trendy Durban nightclubs are Coyote Club, 330, the Tilt and Club Zoom in the Basement, to name just a few.
